Introduction

A press feeder for your dog is a great way to provide your dog with fresh food in the morning. It is also a great way to keep track of what you are feeding your dog because the feeder dispenses a snack at set intervals and usually with the sound of a barking dog. This allows you to know when your dog is getting the right amount of food and the time that you should stop giving him food. Using this type of dog feeder is easy to set up and does not take much time, so here is how to go about setting it up. To begin, you will need to go outdoors and set up a large tarp for cover next to your dog so that you can place the press feeder under it. You should have several large tarp-like pieces laying around your house, so you will have plenty of places to put them once you get into the house. Next, tape each piece to a wall or post. The ones you tape to the walls should be attached to the fence post and the ones you place on the floor should go onto your dog’s bed or any other area you want to mark. You may need to screw these down if they are going to move around since they are pretty heavy. After you have everything in place, start by clipping your dog’s nails so they do not get stuck in his cage. This can be quite difficult, especially if your dog loves to jump or tuck his tail between his legs. Make sure you have someone help you with this step, because it can get quite painful for a pet dog, especially if you have just given him medicine. Once you have done this, you will want to feed him from the press feeder through a tube connected to the same pipe that he uses to drink water. Another thing to make sure that you do is keep the press feeder clean. You can do this by simply cleaning it out regularly so that the water does not get backed up and become dirty. Also, it is a good idea to change out the water that comes out of the feeder once every two weeks or so. This ensures that the water stays clean and does not build up. The last step is probably the most important part of this entire process. This is probably the part that you are going to dread, but it is really very simple. If you are going to use a press feeder, you must remember to walk your dog regularly. Make sure you do not just give him a walk once every couple of months, but at least once every day. This will keep your dog stimulated and possibly prevent boredom from setting in. This is especially important if you have a large dog that loves to lie down and relax in the sun all day long. By following these steps, you will find that feeding your dog from a press feeder is easier than you ever thought possible. Just make sure that you keep your dog in the feeder for a few hours each day, and make sure that he is in the feeder for an hour each time after that. You may have to do a bit more in the beginning, but you will soon find that your dog will begin to like this new routine. Soon enough, you will find that your life will be much easier with this new addition to your home.
